Are these localities anywhere close to each other?
If you go 5 km W of Salsipuedes does it come out 40 mi W of Cordoba
If not, is it possible that they meant 5 km E of Salsipuedes and 40 mi W
of Cordoba?
Or E of Cordoba and W of Salsipuedes? If one of these works, than I
would assume that there was mis-typing somewhere, so you can put what it
seems like it was supposed to be in the annotation field.
Then what you would have to do is recalculate either the miles to km,
or vice versa (depending on which city you use to measure from). For the
extent, use whichever city has a larger extent, so that way any error
in the other is taken into account by the larger cities extent. Then use
the offset from that city, and say that that city is the named placed.
Obviously you can only calculate this as error (not coordinate and
error) as you will have to do this by hand on the map.
If, from looking at this description and the map, it is on a road, then
state what road it was, and use by path in the error calculator.
You should write all of this into the lat-long remarks also.
Hm, one problem is they obviously were only accurate to the 10 mile mark
for Cordoba, and to the 1 km mark for Salsipuedes, so I would be more
inclined to trust their measurement from Salsipuedes, but only if it
puts you in the ball-park of 40 mi from Cordoba.
Write back if that would work with your locality.
