Dear HerpNET Collection managers and Curators:
More data is georeferenced, verified and ready to be uploaded in your
databases at :
http://herpnet.digir.net/pres/repatriation.html
You download the zipped file for your institution and open it with the
password I sent each of you individually.
The updates are contained in a new file in the zipped folder. The files
are dated with year-month-date in the file name. For example the newest
file is from 11 December 2005 and is named:
Museum Name-HerpNETRepatriation-20051211.txt
The following states/countries are completed and available in a new file
in the zip folder:
Costa Rica
Cuba
El Salvador
Georgia (counties Burke, Camden, Decatur, Grady, McIntosh, Thomas Counties)
Hawaii
Haiti
Iran
Kansas/Nebraska duplication fixes
Kenya
Maine/New Hampshire duplication fixes
Myanmar
Nevada mangled records fixes
New Jersey
Puerto Rico
Rhode Island
Tanzania
Uganda
Those that say duplication fixes are for records that had an entry for
two places (e.g. Kansas and Nebraska) and were georeferenced twice.
These duplications should have the same georeferenced coordinates, so
this file contains the correct georeferenced coordinates. This corrects
any previous georeference records you may have downloaded and special
attention should be paid when updating these records.
Please send more georeferenced data as you finish it at your
institution. And please update your online database as soon as possible.
Many people ask when more georeferenced data will be available, it is
probably the most common request.
Thanks
Carol
