Due to some financial difficulties at Arizona State University, ASU is
no longer able to claim AZ for georeferencing.
(They did not receive funds from HerpNET to do this, but were trying to
obtain funding through external sources).

Therefore for those institutions starting georeferencing this coming
year (Fall 2006) or received money last year (2005) and have only
claimed a few localities, Arizona is now available.
You can claim either the entire state, or claim by county.

And to remind those participating in HerpNET, do not make a claim on a
region unless you have already downloaded the data and
will be starting to georeference it in the near future. By making a
claim you are stating the you will complete georeferencing for that region.

See the Georeferencing Steps page for further reference
http://herpnet.org/Gazetteer/GeorefSteps.html

and the Georeferencing Checklist for what is currently available.

Our priority is finishing North America, so the following regions in
North America are still unclaimed:

Arizona: 41,070 localities
Remaining portions of Louisiana: 13, 826 localities
Mississippi: 4,053

Thanks
Carol
