DON TRISEL, A PH.D. STUDENT AT MIAMI UNIVERSITY IN OXFORD, OHIO IS
REQUESTING INFORMATION REGARDING THE CURRENT DISTRIBUTION OF LONICERA
MAACKII (AND JAPONICA OR OTHER ALIEN SPECIES) TO INCORPORATE INTO AN
ECOLOGICAL STUDY ON THAT SPECIES. THIS INVASIVE SHRUB IS NATIVE TO KOREA \
AND MANCHURIA AND HAS WIDELY BEEN PLANTED IN THE UNITED STATES AS AN
ORNAMENTAL. IT HAS ESCAPED FROM CULTIVATION IN PARTS OF OHIO, INDIANA,
ILLINOIS, KENTUCKY, ETC. AT LEAST IN OHIO IT IS RESULTING IN SEVERE
HABITAT DEGREDATION BY DISPLACING NATIVE SPECIES.

WE REQUEST DETAILED INFORMATION (LOCALITIES, DATES OF OCCURRENCE,
DENSITITES, EXISTENCE OF VOUCHER SPECIMENS, ETC) ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF
LONICERA (ESPECIALLY MAACKII). ANY INFORMATION FROM PUBLISHED OR
UNPUBLISHED RECORDS WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL. EVEN INCOMPLETE OR ANECDOTAL
INFORMATION.

THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.

PLEASE FORWARD INFORMATION TO:
                        DETRISEL at MIAMIU.ACS.MUOHIO.EDU
