          I can only quote Arthur Miller (with thanks to Julian Humphries):

          "Data is alot like humans.  It is born.  Matures.  Gets married to
other data, gets divorced.  Gets old.  One thing that it doesn't do is die.
It has to be killed."
Nature is not as simple as its observers.
