Bishop Museum's Hawaii Biological Survey announces the availability
of searchable checklists for all the Hawaiian terrestrial vertebrates.
The query interface allows searching by taxonomic name, residency status,
island, or endangered species status. The references are:

Hawaiian Herps Checklist:

With these additions, the HBS web server now includes basic taxonomic and
distributional data in searchable form for 12,528 of the some 22,000
species known from the islands and surrounding waters. The fishes and
most of the remaining invertebrates will be available over the next few
months.

The HBS web server now includes current status as listed by the US Fish
and Wildlife Service for all threatened and endangered species, as well
as candidate species (including what used to be called "C2" species) for
all but a few fish and invertebrates (to be added shortly).

These services are supported in part by the John D. and Catherine T.
MacArthur Foundation and National Biological Service.
