inclusive biodiversity

I am interested in biodiversity studies which consider, of all things, the
diversity of life!! Given the speculation required in considering many
groups (especially monerans), it is not too surprising that most authors
only consider the diversity of a minute fraction of organisms. The fact
that many use the trendy word "biodiversity" in the titles of such limited
studies though makes it difficult to sift out articles which do consider the
bigger question of the diversity of all life. Any input and especially
references would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to: ctsmith at uvic.ca
Thanks in advance!
