reticulate phylogenies & cladistic classification

Lucinda McDade has published a couple of papers in the last four or so
years (I think in Evolution) on the effects of taxa of hybrid origin on
cladistic results (sorry, but the references don't come to mind
immediately). As I recall, the consequences are a function of how
closely related the sister taxa are; I'll go out on a limb and say that
hybrids between sister taxa were less problematic than hybrids between
taxa in separate clades.
