> The New England Botanical Club will offer an award of $1,000 in support of
> botanical research to be conducted by a graduate student in 1997.  This
> award is made annually to stimulate and encourage botanical research on
> the New England flora, and to support visits to the New England region by
> those who would not otherwise be able to do so.
> The award will be given to the graduate student submitting the best
> research proposal dealing with systematic botany, biosystematics, plant
> ecology, or plant conservation biology, although research in other areas
> will be considered.
> Applicants must submit a proposal of no more than three double-spaced
> pages, a budget (the budget will not affect the amount of the award), a
> curriculum vitae, and two letters in support of the proposed research, one
> from the student's thesis advisor.  Three copies of the proposal must be
> submitted.
> Proposals and supporting letters must be received no later than Mar. 15,
> 1997.  The recipient will be notified by April 30, 1997.
