homonym avoidance

I feel I must point out that in avoiding homonymy in the name of a new
plant genus it is necessary to avoid not only duplicating the name of
another vascular plant but also fungi and algae. It is desirable but not
necessary, to avoid duplicating the name of an animal; there are numerous
examples of generic names being used for both plants and animals without
problem. But duplicating a fungal or algal name will delegitimize a new
plant name.
