BERNARD LOWY FUND FOR THE STUDY OF TROPICAL BOTANY IN LATIN AMERICA

        Applications are invited for research support from the Bernard Lowy
Fund for the study of tropical botany in Latin America.  The family and
friends of the late Bernard Lowy, tropical mycologist and long-time
professor at Louisiana State University, established the Lowy Fund in
recognition of his research in the Neotropics and his concern for the
conservation of tropical ecosystems.  The Lowy Fund will provide funding of
up to $1000 for travel and related expenses required for research in
diverse aspects of tropical botany in Latin America.  Applicants must
either be studying or working at a university or research organization in
Latin America, or be studying or working in, or have received their
doctoral degree from the Department of Plant Biology of LSU at Baton Rouge.
Support for applicants from Latin American institutions is for travel and
living expenses related to reasearch conducted at LSU, and must be made
through an LSU Plant Biology faculty member.
