Job Announcement: Collections Manager of Botany, Bishop Museum

Collections Manager (Botany): Responsible for administering the care and
maintenance of the botanical collections (Herbarium Pacificum),
databases, and associated records at Bishop Museum. Herbarium Pacificum
(BISH) houses over 500,000 plant specimens, with emphasis on the Pacific
Basin, particularly Hawai`i, and with representative material from other
areas. Holdings of Hawaiian vascular plants are the largest in the world,
totaling 140,000 specimens.  The collections include major holdings of
marine algae, as well as smaller collections of fungi and bryophytes.
Applicants must have a Master's degree or equivalent advanced coursework
in botany, museum studies or related field; excellent people management
and supervisory skills; and 2-3 years relevant experience.  Ideal
candidates will have: taxonomic training and herbarium experience
managing botanical specimen collections; curatorial experience with both
vascular and non-vascular plants; and expertise in information management
issues including database applications and WWW tools. Send curriculum
