Associate Keeper of Botany

We are seeking to appoint a research leader of international reputation and
good management skills to the post of Associate Keeper and Deputy Head of
The Department of Botany.

Internationally renowned for its collections and associated research, the
Natural History Museum undertakes both applied and fundamental studies
relevant to society=92s needs.  It is one of the world=92s leading=
 institutions
for the study of biodiversity.

This is a senior post in the Department of Botany, one of the six science
departments of the Museum.  The post has a dual role.  Firstly, a senior
management position in which you will work closely with the Head of
Department (the Keeper) in developing and implementing Departmental policies
and in setting the scientific and curatorial agenda.  Secondly, you will
contribute to, and carry out research within, the Departmental Research
programmes and will be active in obtaining grants or other research funding
to help support the programmes.

You should have a good research degree and a proven track record in
botanical research including income generation through grants, commissioned
research or sponsorship.  Experience of management is essential as is
evidence of scientific leadership skills.  Previous experience of working in
a museum environment is not a prerequisite although you will have a good
understanding of systematics, biodiversity, and related issues.
