ARS is seeking a permanent full-time interdisciplinary Research
Entomologist/ Molecular Biologist, GS12/13 in the Systematic Entomology
Laboratory, Plant Sciences Institute, Beltsville Agricultural Research
Center. Salary is commensurate with experience: GS-12: $45,939-$59,725 and
GS-13, $54,629-$71,017 per annum plus benefits. (Figures for January 1998
pay increases are not yet available). The position involves planning and
conducting independent and team research primarily on the molecular biology
and molecular systematics of a wide array of insects of importance to U.S.
agriculture. In addition to the basic educational requirements, applicants
must demonstrate 1) Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of
molecular biology; 2) Knowledge of the biology of eukaryotic organisms; 3)
Skill in the application of molecular methods and procedures of systematics;
4) Ability to collaborate or co-publish research with colleagues; and 5)
Ability to interpret data, design, plan and conduct research on molecular
systematics of a group of organisms and publish results. Must be a U.S.
