Managing Human-Dominated Ecosystems
Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, Missouri
Thursday, 26 March -- Sunday, 29 March, 1998

A conference on "Managing Human-Dominated Ecosystems" will be held in
celebration of the dedication of Missouri Botanical Garden's new research
center, The Monsanto Center.

The conference is intended to make a substantial contribution to our
understanding of the relationship between economics and the environment.
We look forward to lively discussions, extensive press coverage, and, in all
probability, a book resulting from this event.

More specifically, the aims of the conference are:

 * to appraise where we stand with respect to safeguarding earth's
life support systems, and to identify the principal threats, most
promising solutions, and timely political opportunities

 * to inform one another of key relevant issues in ecology,
in economics, and at their interface

 * to identify critical areas for collaborative research and to advance
   research in these areas

 * to elevate public awareness of these threats and to stimulate
efforts to solve them in the business and legal communities.

Space limited to 400. Please register by 4 March 1998.
