Department of Botany

Salary range 12,671-16,895 pounds with potential to rise to 27,321 pounds

The Natural History Museum, London invites applications for two posts of
Curator to join the team managing the collections of the  Department of
Botany.

The posts will have main responsibilities for managing either the lichen or
diatom collections but will have curatorial duties throughout the herbaria.

The work will include the preparation of loans, answering enquiries,
assisting visitors to the lichen or diatom  collections.   20%  of work
will relate to capturing  specimen information  on computer database.

Applicants should  have  a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
experience. A diploma or post graduate qualification in museum studies
would be desirable as would a  knowledge of and interest in either lichens
or diatoms. Basic computer literacy is essential.

The appointment is initially for a fixed period of 3 years and the starting
salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. We offer a
