The Virginia Museum of Natural History seeks a full-time research
assistant to aid its biological curators in fieldwork and in
collecting, preparing, caring for, documenting, and studying
vertebrates and invertebrates (primarily mammals, bryozoans,
arthropods, and mollusks).
Position requires: basic knowledge of biological theory and
techniques; proficiency with personal computers; ability to work
well with others; ability to follow instructions precisely and to
work alone without supervision; good verbal and written
communications skills; careful attention to details and neatness;
ability to handle a wide variety of living organisms and to
euthanize live animals; ability to perform fieldwork under
adverse conditions. Some extended overnight travel (each trip
may be up to two weeks) will be required.
B.S. in Biology and/or museum experience preferred. Salary is
