MYCOLOGIST
Plant Science & Biodiversity Division

As a Mycologist of Plant Sciences you will undertake taxonomic
research on fungi of Australia. You will curate and expand the
cryptogamic collections, especially of fungi, of the Royal Botanic
Gardens, Melbourne.  You will be sought after to provide information and
expert advice about fungi and other cryptogams to management and
external agencies.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, which includes the National Herbarium of
Victoria, is a major national centre for the study of plant diversity and
conservation.  Its research underpins much of the plant sciences in
Victoria, and makes major contributions to international scientific
programs. A world-wide herbarium collection of over 1 million specimens
is available for scientific study.

You will have at least a degree (or equivalent) with extensive research
experience in taxonomy of fungi.  You will have excellent communication
skills and prepare results of research for publication.
