The Era of Allan R. Phillips: A Festschrift

>From World War II until his death in January 1996, Allan Phillips was the
preeminent ornithologist of the southwest, from the 1950's he was the
preeminent ornithologist of Mexico, and he was among the important alpha
taxonomists of the 20th century.

This volume honoring him includes a brief biography, an overview of his
contributions to ornithology, a complete bibliography of his 172
publications, and annotated list of the 161 taxa he described, with the
current locations of the type material.

Included are 20 contributed papers, including ARP's last singly authored
paper.  Five new taxa are described, three named for him; and in a
revision of the southwestern and Mexican populations of the Spotted Owl, a
new subspecies is named for his wife.
