In the 1998 5 November issue of Nature there was an article reporting a
lower jaw of a parrot from the Cretaceous. In a newspaper article
I read a dismissal of this fossil by Feduccia as possibly being anything, even
a turtle jaw.
If there are any avian paleo-systematists on this list I would be interested
in any comments regarding opinion on the validity of this fossil as being
a parrot as interpreted by the authors of the article.
Sincerely, John Grehan
