I agree with Anita about the need for a multifaceted appraoch. It also
seems to me that there can be different applications and emphasis in
different circumstances. In many cases use of broad general "ecological"
or faunistic criteria are all that are necessary to justify urgency and
action. In other situations the signficance may be less apparent,
and conservation may be enhanced by inclusion of more detailed
phylogenetic and biogeographic information.
