MOLECULAR SYSTEMATIST
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY

The Department of Entomology, Texas A&M University is seeking an
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR to provide research leadership in the area of
insect molecular systematics.  Duties include developing an
aggressive, externally funded research program and teaching a graduate
course in theory of insect systematics and an existing undergraduate
course appropriate to the needs of the department and the candidate's
abilities.  Suitable research areas include investigation of
phylogenetic relationships, modes of speciation, and improved
classification of insects at any taxonomic level.  Successful
candidate will be expected to recruit and train graduate students.
Candidates who combine molecular methods with morphological and
collection-based research are preferred, as are candidates that apply
research results to issues in applied entomology.  Technical
competence in a variety of molecular techniques including sequencing
of appropriate gene regions and phylogenetic analysis of sequence
data is expected.  Ph.D. required.  Postdoctoral experience, a proven
record of research productivity, and demonstrated ability to secure
external research funding preferred.  Interested individuals should
