Botanist for Flora of North America project

The Flora of North America project is seeking a botanist to write floristic
treatments, including keys and descriptions, for a number of unassigned
genera in various families in volumes scheduled to be published within the
next few years.  The person will work closely with the FNA taxon editor
responsible for the group, but may choose to be based at one of several
institutions.  The person hired should have experience in writing floristic
treatments, monographs or revisions and should have a broad, general
interest in the North American Flora.  The person will be expected to meet
deadlines and to follow the Flora of North America style and format in the
preparation of treatments.  The person will also be expected to work
closely with the FNA artist, the FNA managing editor and the FNA
phytogeographical center to see that deadlines are met and maps and
illustrations are coordinated with the text treatments.  Some travel may be
required to consult collections at other institutions.

Among the possible institutions where the person may be based are:  The
Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT), Fort Worth, Texas; the
Missouri Botanical Garden (MO), St. Louis, Missouri; the Harvard University
Herbaria (A/GH), Cambridge, Massachusetts; the New York Botanical Garden
(NY), Bronx, New York; the North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCU), Chapel
Hill, North Carolina; the University of California, Berkeley (UC),
Berkeley, California.

This is a one-year position that may be extended for up to six years,
depending upon satisfactory performance and funding.  Salary and benefits
are competitive and commensurate with experience.
