Voltaire is quoted as saying: "I disagree with everything you say,
but I will fight to the death for your right to say it."

The attribution is evidently apocryphal, but nontheless it might not
be a bad motto to hang above every editor's / reviewer's desk (not
sure about the "to the death" bit, though).
