ALERT TO BIOINFORMATICS SPECIALISTS
New U.S. NSF-supported Grant Competition in
"Biodiversity and Ecosystem Informatics (BDEI)" (NSF 01-99)

The Computer Sciences Directorate at the U.S. National Science Foundation
(NSF) has recently released a "Dear Colleague" letter (NSF 01-99) soliciting
brief (5 pages of project description) proposals for planning or workshop
activities to catalyze innovative approaches to biodiversity informatics.
The deadline is "the second Wednesday of July 2001" so time is of the
essence. Proposals must be submitted from eligible institutions through the
FastLane system. Please check the NSF website for the Dear Colleague letter
at
http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2001/nsf0199/nsf0199.htm
and encourage collaboration with your computationally minded colleagues to
respond to this opportunity.
