postal irradiation

I have also seen concerns voiced about the effect of irradiation on film
(exposed and unexposed) and electronic media (diskettes), but I have not
seen any definitive answers. I presume that were irradiation to be in
effect, giving film directly to a photo store for processing might be OK
(because they would have courier service), but mailing in film for
processing would be hazardous.
