The Botanische Staatssammlung München (M), one of the World's largest state
herbarium, with 2.5 million specimens, is seeking an energetic and active
researcher to fill a position as . It is expected that the successful
candidate will conduct novel plant systematics research, preferably focusing
on extra-European plant groups. In addition, he/she will participate in
regional outreach and education activities, and will help with plant
identification and with answering inquiries from the public. Duties will
include work with other curators to plan and carry out the impending
compactorization of the herbarium as well as participation in routine
herbarium management tasks.

Requirements for the position include a diploma/master and a doctoral degree
in plant systematics and an understanding of herbarium curation. Strong
computer and database management skills are desirable.  The successful
applicant will initially be employed for three years in salary and benefits
category 'Vergütungsgruppe IIa BAT' and can then become permanently employed
in salary and benefits category 'Besoldungsgruppe A13'.  The Botanische
