I hope all of you are able to find and purchase a copy of the March 2002 issue of Scientific American. On page 30 is an article titled, "Down with Evolution!", by Rodger Doyle.

Doyl draws on information gathered by Lawrence S. Lerner of California State University at Long Beach. There is a very interesting map titled, "Rating of Evolution Treatment in State Public School Science Standards". Iowa lacks a state standard, and only Hawaii, California, Indiana, Pennsyslvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, and North and South Carolina have a "Very Good/Excellent" rating. That's 9/50.

The stats are that only 16% of Americans support the teaching of Creationism to the exclusion of Evolution, 83% favor teaching Evolution, but most of them maintain that Creationism should be discussed in sciences classes with Evolution. Only 37% expressed stong support for Evolution - that is, the teaching of Evolution and the exclusion of all religius doctrine in science classes.

The article is well written. A full 45% of Americans believe that God created human life in the past 10,000 years. Read on.
