Postdoctoral Position in Fungal Systematics

A 2 year postdoctoral position is available in Kathie Hodge's lab at
Cornell University for NRI-supported research on fungal taxonomy and
systematics.

The project focuses on the systematics of the insect pathogenic genus
Hypocrella and its anamorph, Aschersonia (Ascomycota:
Clavicipitales). Work includes the evaluation of taxonomic concepts,
resolution of nomenclatural issues, and construction of web-based,
illustrated keys. Sequence-based molecular systematics approaches
will be used to refine species concepts and examine evolutionary
relationships. Applicants must have completed a PhD in a related
area, and preferably have experience in traditional and molecular
systematics of ascomycetes. Travel to several neotropical collecting
sites is expected. Cornell boasts a large number of researchers and
resources on fungal insect pathogens and systematics. Start date is
early 2003, to be negotiated. Review of applications will begin
December 1, 2002.

To apply, please send a letter of interest, C.V., and contact
