Clearly there are many higher categories, but a rank-free system of naming
requires a reference topology, a non-hierarchical use for species, and a
huge number of polynomial names.  Furthermore, fossil taxonomy may be
unstable under the PC.  Although the LN is not perfect, if the LN has been
effectively in use for the last 244 years -- why change it?
