Biogeography of Dietes (Iridaceae)

I received some additional comment on Dietes from Michael Heads who
identified it as a classic case of wing-dispersal (those not familiar with
biogeography interested in the pattern can look it up in the 1999
panbiogeography book and earlier works) with related genera occurring in
Australia. Michael also noted that there are many similar related
disjunctions between the SW Indian Ocean islands (Madagascar, Reunion etc.)
and the SW Pacific (especially New Caledonia and Fiji).
