Dear all

FYI - I just read a story about a 40-foot blob that washed ashore in Chile, as reported today in the MSNBC website:
http://www.msnbc.com/news/933992.asp?cp1=1.

The article has only a small photograph and little information on the specimen. It says that some people have speculated that the blob might be the decomposing carcass or skin of a whale, giant octopus or squid, or even a colony of plankton! Perhaps someone here might know more about this puzzling specimen.

Aloha,
Fabio
