THE FIFTH BIENNIAL MEETING OF THE SYSTEMATICS ASSOCIATION, 22ND - 26TH
OF AUGUST 2005 AT CARDIFF UNIVERSITY AND THE NATIONAL MUSEUM AND
GALLERY, CARDIFF, U.K.

Announcement and call for papers.  
PLEASE NOTE the 31 December abstract deadline for student bursaries.   

The biennial conferences of the Systematics Association provide a forum
for systematists from different disciplines to present and discuss their
research.  In addition to contributed papers, the scientific programme
will include the following daily thematic sessions: 'The new taxonomy'
(Organiser: Quentin Wheeler), 'What is Biogeography?' (Malte Ebach and
Ray Tangney), and 'Perfect phylogeny and other problems: compatibility
methods in systematics' (Mark Wilkinson).  

STUDENT BURSARY SCHEME AND STUDENT PRIZES. 
Student bursaries are being offered.  Bursaries will contribute towards
the cost of registration, accommodation, and subsistence for students.
Allocation of bursaries is competitive, based on assessment of an
abstract that must be submitted by 31 December 2004, for decisions in
January 2005. 

Prizes will be awarded at the conference to the best talk and poster by
a student.  Please indicate whether you are eligible and wish to be
considered for either of these prizes when submitting your abstract.

ASSOCIATED MEETING
A symposium sponsored by the Systematics Association and the Natural
History Museum entitled 'Algorithmic Approaches to the Identification
Problem in Systematics' will take place on the 19th August in London.
Attendees of the Cardiff Biennial Conference are encouraged to include
attendance at this symposium in their plans. For further details see:
