For scientists in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana (USA) only... (and please
forward to your colleagues in these states)

Please consider signing this statement of concern about a new Creation
"Museum" (see http://www.creationmuseum.org/ or
http://www.answersingenesis.org/museum/walkthrough/ ) that will open on
May 28 in Kentucky. An article in the Guardian included this quote
about this new "Museum":
"The Creation Museum - motto: "Prepare to Believe!" - will be the first
institution in the world whose contents, with the exception of a few
turtles swimming in an artificial pond, are entirely fake." (link:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,,1946370,00.html )

Here is some information from National Center for Science Education's
website and their statement:

Parents, educators, scientists, clergy, and other citizens are concerned
about scientifically inaccurate exhibits at the Creation Museum in
Petersburg, KY, operated by Answers in Genesis, a fundamentalist
Christian ministry. The statement below has been prepared by and for
scientists in KY, OH, and IN. Please feel free to sign if you are a
scientist from KY, OH, or IN. And please circulate this statement among
your colleagues. The National Center for Science Education
(http://ncseweb.org/ ) is administering the collection of signatures.

*Statement of Concern*
We, the undersigned scientists at universities and colleges in Kentucky,
Ohio, and Indiana, are concerned about scientifically inaccurate
materials at the Answers in Genesis museum. Students who accept this
material as scientifically valid are unlikely to succeed in science
courses at the college level. These students will need remedial
instruction in the nature of science, as well as in the specific areas
of science misrepresented by Answers in Genesis.

*Sign this statement on this web page: http://www.sciohost.org/states/ ,
but *only ***you are a scientist (faculty or post-doctoral level) from
IN, KY, or OH. *
