[Taxacom] Spelling help sought

I have been asked for an explanation for the use of 'rachis' v. 'rhachis'.  Stace uses 
'rhachis', but I seldom see it spelled this way today.  Does anyone have an explanation 
for this difference?  Thanks for any help.
