Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for the cross-posting. As chair of the ASPT collections
committee, I've been asked to summarize the open workshops/discussion
meetings related to herbaria at the upcoming Bot2008 meeting in Vancouver.
Please note that in addition to the sessions below, representatives from
several herbaria will be presenting on various collections projects during
the meeting (just search for "herbaria" under keywords on the conference
site).
Summary of Open Workshops/Discussion Sessions:
27 July, 1-5pm: Virtual herbaria: Regional progress in organizing,
fundraising, and delivering content (workshop organized by ASPT syst.
coll. committee)
28 July, 7-9pm: Curators meeting (organized by ASPT syst. coll. committee)
30 July, 4pm: National Park Service Biological Collections Forum -
progress towards further cooperation (discussion session organized by Rich
Rabeler and James Solomon)
31 July, 1-11am: Building a National Virtual Herbarium through
Collaboration (organized by US Virtual Herbarium Coordinating Committee
[=WDC012 committee]). The committee invites attendees to stop by its
table in the exhibitor's hall to nominate your favorite Web site for a
prize and/or drop off a flyer about your herbarium and its Web site.
Best,
Alexander
