The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew invites applications for the position of 
Applications Developer (Science Applications) in the Information
Technology department at Kew.

Working within the Science Applications Team you will create, maintain, test and 
document a variety of science related software systems to meet user requirements 
for Kew's Systems Analysis and Development Methodology (SAD).

You will play a key role in developing and maintaining knowledge of current 
software techniques and trends. Contribute to reviews of new systems. 
Demonstrate knowledge of procedural and object-oriented programming techniques 
and have a flexible approach to software development.

You will have a qualification in computer sciences, or a background within a 
related field along with skills in the creation, support and maintenance of 
software systems in one or more of the following:

* Sybase Adaptive Server and MySQL dbms or similar relational dbms
* Java (inc. Spring and Hibernate) or Visual Basic programming languages
* HTML, web deployment and other Internet technologies, particularly Struts
* Unix/Linux operating systems

Use your interpersonal skills to establish good relationships and communicate 
ideas clearly with scientists and other IT colleagues. You may work on projects 
in other locations, possibly and occasionally elsewhere within the UK or overseas.

Salary is from £20,972 per annum. Benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a
