The International Code of Botanical Nomenclature is clear about the names:
QUOTE
Principle V Scientific names of taxonomic groups are treated as Latin
regardless of their derivation.
END-OF-QUOTE
E.g.,
Camassia quamash (species: Saalish Indian name)
Tsuga heterophylla (genus: Japanese name)
Svida sanguinea (genus: Czech name)
But also (hard to believe):
Botrychium yaaxudakeit Stensvold & Farrar (the elders of Alaska's Yakutat
Tlingit people chose this epithet)
Never mind, I am sure that the plants do not care about how they are called.
All the best,
Adolf
