The Schlinger Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in Systematic Entomology


The California Academy of Sciences (CAS) is pleased to announce the Schlinger
Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in Systematic Entomology. The recipient
will conduct collections-based systematics research on insects, arachnids, or
myriapods and will contribute to the development of the entomological
collections at CAS. 


The fellowship: The fellowship duration is one or two years. The stipend is
$38,000 per year plus benefits and a $5,000 per year research allowance. 


The collection: The fellowship includes a significant curatorial component
(e.g., identifications of existing holdings, building and improving of the
existing collections and/or databases). Information on the Department and

To apply: The applicant must have a Ph.D. degree, or at least all
requirements for receiving the Ph.D. degree must be completed by the
announcement date. Applications should be submitted to Wojciech J. Pulawski,

description of no more than three pages (exclusive of bibliography), time
table, budget, curriculum vitae, suggestions of curatorial contribution, and
two letters of support. Deadline for application is 1 September 2008, award
announcement 15 September 2008, and the preferred starting date is 1 November
