I did my undergraduate degree in Evolution and Ecology at UC-Davis where I
enjoyed a great course in Principle of Systematics taught by Art Shapiro my
last semester there in 2004. There were about 20 students. EVE also offered
a fantastic Invertebrate Zoology course taught by Rick Grosberg and a Field
Herpetology taught by Brad Shaffer. The Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation
Biology Dept. offered Ichthyology, Ornithology and Mammology as well.
Entomology and Nematology were also offered regularly. All organismal
biology courses have a stong systematics component.

On the other hand, there is a distinct lack of taxonomy and systematics at
Penn State where I did my Masters work. The closest thing might be a course
in Molecular Evolution where phylogenetics and tree-building was a 1/4 of
the class time.

Best Regards, Kevin
