Estimado Taxacom Subscribers:
Over the last few days, and for some subscribers over the last few
weeks, Taxacom mail to subscribers addresses had been bouncing back to
the Taxacom mail list server here at Kansas, due to a tightening of
anti-spam technical measures in mail gateway computers between your
email machine and our mail server. Specifically, an increasing number
of mail gateways between you and the Taxacom mail server were checking
the trustworthiness of our Taxacom machine using an Internet protocol
known as reverse domain name service, or rDNS. The Taxacom server up
until now, was not responding to rDNS requests from remote machines and
an increasing number of remote mail gateways refused Taxacom mail as a
result, and bounced the mail back to us. This was more common for
non-U.S. sites until this week, but over the last few days a large
number of mail gateways in the U.S. also started to issue rDNS requests,
and because we did not answer them, the gateways refused to forward
Taxacom mail to you.
Taxacom is now configured to respond to rDNS requests. Ironically, some
of the last mail messages stuck in the outbound mail queue here, which
could not be delivered on account of this configuration issue, were
messages to Taxacom subscribers says that their Taxacom account had been
suspended due to multiple bounced messages. You may receive a message
to that effect, but fear not, we have re-activated all of the Taxacom
subscriber accounts which were automatically suspended due to bouncing
mail messages. You should experience the usual eclectic assortment of
incoming Taxacom mail.
If you have any issues with receiving Taxacom mail, please let us know
at: taxacom-owner at mailman.nhm.ku.edu.
Thanks for your patience.
Jim B.
