[Taxacom] A request and a reminder, primarily for folks in the US

I apologize to anyone receiving this twice.

THE REQUEST: The ASPT Collections Committee would like to know what
topics you would like to see discussed or reports you would like to hear
at the MONDAY evening Curator's meeting. The annual meeting of USVH
will be on the Sunday afternoon and that will provide a venue for
raising issues and hearing reports re the regional and national
networks, but herbaria are more than networks and the Web. Topics that
have been suggested so far as annotations - or the problem of specimens
being borrowed and returned without being annotated, voucher specimens
and the lack thereof, and redoing the guidelines for herbarium research.
Please send your suggestions to everyone or to one of the committee
members [Committee members are Mary Barkworth (chair), Wayne Elisens,
Carolyn Ferguson, Richard Rabeler (representing SPNHC) and Zack Murrrel
(representing the Society of Herbarium Curators)].

THE REMINDER: Please, if you have not signed on as a participant in the
USVH project do so. This is not the same as last year's effort - this is
for a five year project which means that there will be an annual meeting
each year. If you registered last year, you will need to register again,
using your existing username and password. Yes, there is a place to
retrieve them if you have forgotten them. There will be a time lag
between your signing in and being approved because station directors
have to approve all requests. If you do not know the name of your
state's AES, please search the web for "Agricultural Experiment Station
Director Mystate". It worked for Iowa. A reminder: you do not have to be
at a land grant college, you do not have to be at a western institution.
What you will be asked to do is minimal; what you and your institution
will receive is about the same, but what we could COLLECTIVELY gain is
huge. So please, support the efforts of the coordinating committee.

HERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Feel free to just forward this to all the current members of WDC 012 who
are not at AES institutions. Thanks.
