"The Biology of a changing World: Conserving Biodiversity" is the theme of the School. Consequently the School offers exciting teaching and research opportunities over a wide range of topics in the Life Sciences.  The broad nature of the School's endeavours engenders a collegial, collaborative and dynamic working environment.  The School is seeking to appoint suitably, qualified candidates for two positions:

Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer - Life Sciences

Qualifications/requirements/criteria

Minimum qualification is a PhD 

Expertise in Behavioral Ecology

Research interest in Evolution would be a strong advantage

Research record

Appropriate experience in teaching, research, postgraduate supervision and related administration

Academic Leadership

PhD for Lecturer and MSc for Associate Lecturer

Research record

Appropriate experience in teaching, research and related administration

Leadership potential

Drivers Licence

Expectations:   The incumbent will be expected to teach taxonomy of families of South African flowering plants and diversity of savanna plants at second year level and plant variation and nomenclature, phytogeography and pollination biology at Honours level

Commencement : 1 August 2009 or a.s.a.p. thereafter

Conditions          : 5 year contract

Remuneration for these levels of positions: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary package includes annul bonus, retirement fund, medical aid, and bursaries, subject to the University regulations.
