The Department of Biodiversity Informatics at the Botanic Garden and
Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem (BGBM), Freie Universität Berlin has an
immediate opening for a Software Developer - salary level Scientist/Senior
Main tasks & responsibilities: Software development for the EDIT ³Platform
for Cybertaxonomy². Software components are developed by a team of 6
developers at the BGBM, in international collaboration (see
Prerequisites: The candidate should have a university degree, proven Java
development skills, and good English communication skills.
Desirable: Experience with object-oriented modelling, Hibernate, and
database development.
The candidate should have a willingness to work in and adapt to a complex
subject area.
Biodiversity Informatics deals with a highly complex information domain and
has direct relevance to some of the most urgent problems of global change
and loss of biodiversity. The BDI Department at the BGBM is one of the
leaders in this fast-growing field..
