LECTURER IN ENTOMOLOGY
FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND AGRICULTURE
SCHOOL OF BIOLOGICAL & CONSERVATION SCIENCES
PIETERMARITZBURG CAMPUS

The School has one of the strongest research records in the University
and a large number of
postgraduate students. Its research facilities are comprehensive and
cutting-edge equipment is
available.
The School seeks to appoint an entomologist or invertebrate biologist,
at the LECTURER level, to
continue its longstanding involvement in this area of study. Applicants
must have background in any
field of entomology or invertebrate biology (except biological
control).
The appointee will be expected to contribute actively to research,
teaching and supervision, both at
under- and postgraduate levels. Collaboration with existing researchers
in weed biocontrol, pollination
biology, conservation biology, systematics and/or agriculture would be
encouraged.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
● A MSc by research in an appropriate field of entomology or
invertebrate biology.
● A current research record evidenced by publication in the
peer-reviewed literature.
● Two years experience in either, lecturing, research or relevant
industry.
ADVANTAGES:
● A PhD in an appropriate field.
● Background in the following areas of entomology or invertebrate
biology; ecology,
conservation, biogeography, systematics and /or agriculture.
● Experience in teaching at tertiary level.
● Successful supervision/co-supervision of postgraduate students.
● Postdoctoral experience in a relevant field.
● Additional peer-reviewed publications.

The remuneration package offered includes benefits and will be
dependent on the
qualifications and/or experience of the successful applicant. The
selection process will
continue until a suitable candidate is appointed or a decision is taken
