[Taxacom] Two research assistantships available to develop the Catalogue of Life

Two full time fixed term appointments are available to join the
Catalogue of Life team in the Centre for Plant Diversity and
Systematics, School of Biological Sciences at the University of Reading:


 

1)      Research Assistant (i4Life Taxonomic Infrastructure
Co-ordinator) 

Closing date: 7th October 2010, Interview date: 14th October 2010

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic specialist in Taxonomy and
biodiversity informatics to join an international project harmonising
global taxonomic catalogues using the Catalogue of Life. You will need
experience in project coordination, taxonomic database workflows,
species checklists and an understanding of DNA barcoding. See

2)      Research Assistant (i4Life Systems Developer/Programmer) 

Closing date: 7th October 2010, Interview date: 13th October 2010,

We are seeking to appoint an energetic systems developer/programmer to
implement a workflow for handling batches of scientific names between
global biodiversity partners in the i4Life project of the Catalogue of
Life programme.  You need the ability to deliver quality database tools
and to work with developers and biologists at the partner sites (GBIF,
EBI, IUCN, ECBOL, EoL, LifeWatch and CoL supplier databases). See
