[Taxacom] MCMC and Bayesian trees

Hi y'all


Richard Zander posed the following question regarding Bayesian phylogenetic analysis.



"Is the tree selected as final that one with the joint probability (product of all support values) the highest?"



My understanding is that the trees commonly presented as representing Bayesian analyses are majority-rule consensus trees derived from the trees sampled during MCMC, rather than a single "optimal" tree.



Is that right?
