Faculty Position in Plant Systematics, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, Department of Biology, University of Florida
The Department of Biology, University of Florida, invites applications for a nine month tenure-track faculty position in Plant Systematics at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, effective fall semester, 2013. The Department offers a collegial environment and enjoys strong ties with the Florida Museum of Natural History, UF Genetics Institute, UF Emerging Pathogens Institute and multiple University centers in biomedical, veterinary, environmental and agricultural sciences. We will consider outstanding candidates from all areas of plant systematics, with an emphasis on researchers interested in diversity and natural history; we especially encourage applications from those working in areas that complement existing strengths in molecular systematics and phylogenetic analysis. Instruction at both undergraduate and graduate levels is expected, e.g., courses in plant taxonomy, local flora, and involvement in introductory biology. Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience. We are seeking candidates whose research is interdisciplinary and who can collaborate with faculty in the department and elsewhere on campus. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program and share a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
