[Taxacom] Sinoniscus Liu and Wang

I'm not sure it is necessary to go to all that trouble! What would make the name unavailable? Very little in fact ...
Just assume that it is an available name, replace the isopod homonym with a new name, and at worst the new name will get synonymised if anyone should bother to delve deeply into the issue and find a problem ...

Hi Stefano,      I too strongly suspect that the fossil fish genus Sinoniscus is available.  If you can't find a copy of the 1978 paper, I would try to find Schultz (if he is still living) to see if he was even aware of the homonymy.  Otherwise, since ITIS lists Sinoniscus Schultz valid, I would contact the expert who listed it as valid, Marilyn Schotte of the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Instutution).  The other listed expert (Brian Kensley is apparently deceased).  If Schultz is deceased, Schotte might be interested in the naming of a replacement name for the isopod genus.                                    ----------------Good luck,                                                                                  Ken
