Following last week's release of BioNames http://bionames.org I've now added phylogenies for many taxa, based on trees from Mike Sanderson's PhyLoTA project (http://phylota.net ). These are automatically assembled phylogenies based on sequences in GenBank. The interface is a bit minimalist at present, but if you have a decent, modern web browser, you should be able to browse the trees.

Apart from their intrinsic interest, these phylogenies are often useful at low levels where they highlight some cases of synonymy that taxonomic databases may be unaware of (such as GenBank itself). For example see this fiddler crab phylogeny http://bionames.org/trees/phylota/ti156509_cl8_db184

There are also lots of example of taxa in GenBank that haven't been associated with formal names (aka "dark taxa").

Feedback welcome, as always.
